Blanche - Trinité - Pigalle
This pie shaped neighborhood, bordered by the Rue Blanche, the Rue Pigalle, the Rue de Douai and the Eglise de la Sainte Trinité, is the unlikely residential center of the 9th arrondissement.
| To the north, close to the Boulevard de Clichy, are non-stop hustle and bustle, nightlife and sex-shops. But this quiet quartier remains untouched by any of it.
| Buildings along the Rue Chaptal, the Rue Blanche, and the Rue Jean-Baptiste Pigalle are elegant and sober. The streets are green and narrow, almost deserted at night, yet studded with small restaurants and boutiques, friendly bistros and small squares with fountains. Behind the Church, the Square and Rue Moncey have some of the nicest housing in the quartier.
| The Sainte Trinité church is a typical, heavy, second Empire design with a raised front entrance and one of the tallest belfries in Paris. Finished in 1867, it contains an 1869 masterpiece by the French organ Aristide Cavaille-Coll from 1869.
| These features and many others, make this quartier a worthwhile stop for those visitors coming down from the noise and energy of Pigalle. |
