Passerelle Debilly

This footbridge, designed by Alby, Lion and Résal, was built to enable visitors to the Universal Exhibition of 1900 to cross between the Army and Navy pavilions situated on either side of the Seine.

Like the Eiffel Tower, it has survived well beyond its intended, temporary, duty and is now listed as a national monument: a timeless example of fabrication during an era when iron was highly prized as a building material.

The bridge connects the Palais de Tokyo on the right bank with the Quai Branly (just next to the Eiffel Tower) on the left and takes its name from General Billy who fell during the battle of Iéna in 1806.
