7th Arrondissement
The 7th is probably the most visited arrondissement in Paris owing to the Eiffel Tower, the Champ de Mars, the Ecole Militaire and Les Invalides (Napoleon’s tomb) being within its borders.
The 7th also contains the Musée d’Orsay (Orsay Museum, home to a renowned collection of 19th century art), and the Legion of Honor Museum, as well as most of the government offices, including the French National Assembly. Beside its tourist attractions however, it’s an expensive residential area with a surprising night life.
56,988 people live here, at only 13,933 per square kilometer (average Parisian density is over 20,000). The streets tend to be airy, green, with huge pre-World War I buildings containing immense apartments. Everywhere you look there is a regal stiffness, saved from being dull by the beauty and excellent condition of its buildings, as well as by the pretty boutiques and irresistible pâtisseries dotting its streets. In many ways, this arrondissement is a concrete vision of the image visitors have of rich, residential Paris.
Being the most visited arrondissement means that the 7th is also one of the easiest to reach: It is crossed by 4 metro lines and 17 bus lines, as well as being home to the airport bus terminal at the Esplanade des Invalides.
