Noah’s arc at the Museum

Here’s a dandy way to spend a Sunday for children and parents alike: A visit to the Natural History Museum, the Jardin des Plantes and, particularly, the Grand Evolution hall: a spectacular assembly of animals more real here than in nature.

This gallery, renovated in 1994, tells the story of the evolution of life through over 3000 specimens under the central nave of the building: It’s full of Zebras, Giraffes, Rhinos, Buffaloes Gazelles, tigers and elephants, among others.

The museum was founded in 1635 by Louis XIII and subsequently designated the Museum of Natural History. Dedicated to the knowledge of life and the Earth, its mission has always been scientific with its great Paleontological, Mineralogical and Geological halls.

Go wander around the immense halls with or without kids: the halls are a fascinating trip through time and the history of millions of land and marine species.
